Hazelnut Latte Cupcakes

Makes 24

Your favorite morning morning drink and your favorite treat come together to make this decedent latte cupcake. The rich coffee flavor, topped with creamy hazelnut icing might make this cupcake become your new morning ritual.


For Cupcakes:

  • 2  cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened and cubed
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons instant espresso

For Icing:

  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons powdered or liquid hazelnut coffee creamer


For Cupcakes:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line muffin tin. Set aside.
  2. Stir boiling water and instant espresso together and set aside until cool
  3. In electric mixer combine flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar. Mix 1-2 minutes. Slowly add in butter until batter resembles cornmeal. Then add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla, and espresso water mixture.
  4. Once fully mixed add batter to cupcake tins and bake for 10-15 minutes

For Icing:

  1. In clean electric mixer or bowl slowly stir the butter, milk, and powdered sugar together. Stir until completely mixed.
  2. Hand mix vanilla and coffee creamer completely into icing.


  1. Remove cupcakes from oven and set aside until complete cooled.
  2. Place icing in piping bag and ice each cupcake.
  3. Garnish however you want.
